Shubham Tageja — Musician & Producer
About
"At eleven, I heard a tune on the piano — and simply played it back. That moment set the course of my entire life. Music Without Borders, Sound Without Limits."
Shubham Tageja is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and educator with over 20 years of experience spanning classical Indian music, folk fusion, and experimental sound. Born and raised in Delhi, India, Shubham trained under some of the subcontinent's most revered masters — carrying on the ancient guru-shishya parampara tradition of learning directly at the feet of a teacher.
His guitar journey began under the late Sonam Sherpa of Parikrama — one of India's most iconic rock bands — earning him the highest rank in India through Trinity College London and Rockschool examinations. His flute studies with Guru Sujit Mandal have spanned over 13 years of devoted classical training.
A journey to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan led him to learn Algoza and Khartal under Padmashri Taga Ram Bheel in the most traditional manner. The ancient vocal percussion art of Konnakol was studied at the World Konnakkol Academy, Bangalore under B.R. Somashekar Jois. A certified Audio Engineer trained at the Academy of Recording Arts (FTII Alumni), Shubham now bridges ancient sound with contemporary production.
Now based in Derby, England, he brings this rare depth of knowledge to performances, recordings, workshops, and one-on-one teaching — connecting people across the world with the living heritage of Indian music.
Bansuri Flute — 13+ years of ongoing classical training under one of India's respected flute masters, following the sacred guru-shishya tradition.
Algoza & Khartal — Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Padma Shri awardee and one of India's most revered folk musicians, President of the Algoza Society. Shubham learned in the traditional guru-shishya manner in the heart of the Thar Desert.
Konnakol — Founder & Director of the World Konnakkol Academy, Bangalore. India's leading Konnakkol exponent and A-Top Grade artist of Prasar Bharati (All India Radio). The world's first and only conservatory devoted to Konnakkol.
Guitar — Lead guitarist of Parikrama, one of Asia's biggest rock bands. Sonam performed at the Download Festival in England alongside Iron Maiden, and at Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Wacken Open Air. He passed away in February 2020 and is deeply missed.
